   EXTRA/EXTRA, Read All About It: “Emperor Decimates Praetorian Guard!! Executes Senior Commanders while Blinding many Subordinates”. Empire’s Enemies declare Victory while Pressing for further Bloodshed in Capitol.

   Facing recent domestic/foreign policy setbacks within the Senate; now enraged, the Emperor coldly retaliated by instructing a prominent Senator, who is tasked with Praetorian Oversight, to release an internal report detailing Praetorian activities once designed to safeguard the Empire. Although the Emperor, the Senator and many of her colleagues were routinely briefed and signaled approval of Praetorian strikes against the Empire’s enemies; new found political expediencies urged an unusual plan for the use of the Praetorians. Instead of Front-Line Defense and Intelligence; the Praetorians themselves were captured, paraded before the Senate and slaughtered. In an act of feigned mercy, the Emperor spared a handful of Senior Commanders who were left alive then released but not until they had their eyes gouged out. To the Emperor’s quiet amusement; the Prominent Senator gave orders to leave the blood-stained marble floors unwashed as a warning testament to the remaining Praetorians, her Senatorial opponents and all Citizens everywhere.

   The Emperor and his Senatorial supporters plan an extravagant celebration to honor their gods and good political fortune. Of course, Royal Invitations will go out to the remaining Praetorians and the opposition Senators though few are unlikely to be in attendance. Most Praetorians have gone into hiding.

   Who will stand Watch for the Empire now?
