House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers supports equal pay for women who do equal work.
The problem (as I see it) with the statement of Equal Pay for Equal Work is this. EQUAL WORK IS A SUBJECTIVE TERM. A CEO who promises the make 1 billion widgets within a year to a supplier is not doing the equal amount of work of creating those billion widgets but is getting 300% income from successful outcome. In addition the people that are ACTUALLY making those 1 billion widgets are not given golden parachutes if they fail whereas the CEO is.
From the 90's till now the average worker's income has either declined or stannated whereas the average CEO's income has increased yearly over 100%. CEO's get bonuses for reducing workforces while at the sametime expecting increased output from whoever is left over. And when those remaining workers actually succeed in still producing 1 billion widgets they get next to nothing. However the CEO gets a million plus bonus.
So while the top 1% seem to be getting 'mad as heck' and feel attacked because they are expected to pay above 12% effective tax rate while their income increased upwardly of over 200% the lower, working, middle-class and lower class people (billions of potential CONSUMERS) have been under 'attack' since 1990. It is about time that the wealthy 'FELT OUR PAIN'.
