Plane, train or automobile? CNN's "Great Race Home"!

Poor weather, flight delays, jammed highways - in a nutshell, miserable pre-Thanksgiving travel conditions. Sounds like a great time for a race!

We've signed up three of our own u̶n̶l̶u̶c̶k̶y̶ ̶s̶o̶u̶l̶s̶ ̶w̶i̶t̶h̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶s̶h̶o̶r̶t̶ ̶s̶t̶r̶a̶w̶s̶ intrepid reporters to see who might get from New York to the set of "The Situation Room" here in Washington first: Nic Robertson in a plane, Lisa Desjardins on a train, or Brian Todd in a car.

The man going 500 mph in the air might be your first choice, but this is Thanksgiving, and all the long-line-missed-flight-delayed-takeoff trimmings could be in play.

Millions of you will be traveling today, and these three will be joining you. Which is the fastest way to get from point A to point B on this crazy travel day? Let's see how they do in this v̶e̶r̶y̶ ̶s̶e̶r̶i̶o̶u̶s̶ quite unscientific venture. Follow along here, on CNN TV, and on Twitter (#CNNGreatRaceHome) from noon ET through the afternoon!

What a colossal waste of broadcasting time! A three-minute story told over 15-20 minutes, and told over and over again. With all that's going on in this country and around the world, we have to sit through a not-very interesting account of how three people travelled from NYC to DC, without any very challenging moments. Time could have been better spent telling of the travails of real people in Pennsylvania and elsewhere, if that was the only topic the producers could come up with for the day before Thanksgiving/Hanukkah.

"I just walked it again, Wolfe. I don't know how far it is, but it takes about ninety-minutes one way, then I walk back same distance. That's how far my Bank is, and I just paid in my Cheque. Now I'm rich compared to what I was three weeks ago. My trusty old-cane did it again. Seems as though bothe my computers were updated, with moving here. The Lap-Top needs Windows-Nine for some reason, and Grumpy got lost in the shuffle??"

Is there no level of stupid to which you will not descend to avoid reporting real news?
