Shutdown stops military death benefits

Four American soldiers were killed in Afghanistan this weekend, but their families will not get Pentagon funding to go to Dover Air Force Base to pay their respects. CNN's Barbara Starr reports on the hold that the government shutdown has put on financial help for families of fallen troops.

I am a decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War and most likely you remember how we were treated upon our return. Now Major News Networks have been reporting that this is for the most part due to John Boehner's refusal to allow the house to vote on the Budget as it stands. I believe it has been at least 4 days that this has been reported, but according to Jay Carnie the President has just learned of it today; e.g., something like Benghazi. Now in the last week the President order the Special Forces and SEALS to launch a capture mission on 2 terrorist to bring them to trial, but he has to wait for congress to pass a law to be able to pay the families death benefits of the recent casualties from Afghanistan. Wolf, how stupid do you think American people that watch the News and care are? You don't report the news you spin the story most favorable to the President. I sincerely believe that the News media will be responsible for a national uproar with severe consequences. Just listen to all the, "grown" men and women running our government. Do you think this doesn't transcend to the people back home. Wolf, people in this county get angrier each passing day.

Why doesn't the president sign an executive order to pay death benefits to fallen soldiers families? why are lawyers making involved when it was clearly the intention of both the House and Senate to protect our military and THEIR FAMILIES!!!!! How much did it cost to close the WW11 veterans memorial? How much did it cost to host the immigration rally at the mall in Washington? How much is it costing the American tax payer to stop visitors from taking pictures at yellowstone?

If the voters do not VOTE OUT people like Cruz, Paul, McConnell and the rest of these clowns- seeing what they are NOT accomplishing in Congress, they are blind! We don't need this craziness in our American society ever! They should NOT be representing the American public.

American servicemen and women have given their lives for a cause that might not be theirs, and this so called "Great Country" can't even give them or their families death benefits. It's a very sad day for those of us that service America. We go where we are told and do what we are told hoping and wishing that we return home safe and sound. And if we can't, we hope that our families would be taken care of. If that can't happen, then why should we serve? A VERY SAD DAY FOR THOSE OF US WHO SERVE!!

You're exactly right, but as in the case with the sequester which the President signed into law; he had the government make it as hard on Americans as he could; e.g., closing the White house, then he spends $100,000,000 to go to Africa. He said he was going then when there was a public outcry he said he wasn't going and then he went. Duh!
