Wolf Blitzer delivers the most important breaking news and political, international, and national security stories of the day. Tune to The Situation Room weekdays 5-7pm ET on CNN.
Fresh from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on strikes in Syria, Sen. John McCain gives Wolf Blitzer his thoughts on how Tuesday's hearings went and where the crisis in Syria stands now.
Why not have the UN mandate Russia/China to take scientists, troops, trucks into Syria and load out all Assad's chemical equipment and materials. Assad would not attack as they are buddy's. If the opposition attacks then the world will know who is at fault
Senator McCain should be reminded of America's role in spreading Agent Orange and related chemical weapons in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and surrounding countryside that killed men, women, children along with plant and wildlife some 55+ year ago. Oh how quickly we like to forget our own transgressions, eh
Do we have national security interests in the region? Yes we have a national security in protecting our resources and partnerships in the region, maintaining international peace and stability within the region, avoiding civilian casualty, toppling the regime, locating international threats to international peace and stability and eliminating them, preventing cyber warfare and hackers of confidential security systems which Syrian Hackers rattled last night aboard our naval systems. If we do not have an interest in Syria, then our respect for the rule of law, willingness to compromise, and national security means nothing.
