Can someone just buy this city, build a wall around it and turn it into Mad Max? Everyone wins.

YA! I thought the same thing. THIS is front line news. A WHOLE city filing for bankrupsy and they dont even mention it on the front page. I get my news from CNN and Im very disappointed that they are "overlooking" this HUGE American story...very sad.

Another failure by a Democratic administration. And we want to continue to let Obama drive America overall into the ground? How stupid do you Liberals have to be to let that happen?

Detroit owes $18 Billion. The Federal Government owes $18 Trillion. Makes sense to place both into bankruptcy and appoint someone to clean them up. Certainly both systems are broken and in bad need of repair. Current management not capable of fixing the problem!

This has been coming down for years, the auto makers pulled out,the politicans kept giving themselves big raises and benefits(just like all of our government has done),stupid spending done for years. This is not the only city that is broke, there is more to come. All of government needs to be cut in half and payroll cut in half and make the other half WORK 70HRS a week and if they do not do it get rid of them also.Jim Thomas Phx.Az.

October 2012: Obama triumphantly declared to America he “refused to throw in the towel” and “let Detroit go bankrupt.”

Detroit voted for Obama/Biden, a Democratic Governor, Democratic Senators and Congressmen, and a Democratic City Administration. Yet, if the people of Detroit were to vote again today, they would still blindly vote for these same people again! My sympathy to those who did not vote Democratic; and I'm sorry, but I can not feel any sympathy for those who voted Democratic. And somehow, the Democrats will come up with a way to blame the Republicans. They will eventually lay it on Bush again. You will never find a Democrat who is responsible for anything that goes bad; only things that go their way.
