Zimmerman attorney kicks off with joke

    I guess Don West wanted to establish a bond between himself and the jurors, breaking the ice so to speak, by telling his joke, or rather using the frame of a knock-knock joke, to let the jurors know that he thought they were unbiased and open to what he would follow to say. Unfortunately the joke fell flat, and West might have achieved the opposite of what he wanted. Besides speaking with a slow and sedative voice, he is a very likable person, and the all female jurors probably forgive his faux pas.
