Above the three branches of government stands the 4th Amendment. These surveillance programs fly in the face of it.

The spying community seizes our "effects"–difital they may be–without probable cause and for no concievable reason, not even terrorism. If the to government take 100's of millions of phone numbers, that's unreasonable. Does Gen. Hayden really expect us to believe that he needs our numbers on permanent record to check the cell phones found in the field?

And the sweeping up of emails andcredit card/bank records is a gross violation.

Gen. Hayden has done our country an immense disservice by building this surveillance state. I can only hope that Americans from all political perspectives can agree and see–on the face of it–that all of this is contrary to a free society.
