I have friends who were tornado chasers living in OK City area in the 70's. They lived in underground mound homes or cave homes. There were schools in Tornado alley (e.g Norman & Moore )that had entire gyms built 50 feet underground as tornado/nuclear bomb shelters. They were used as community centers, when school was out. There's no excuse for schools being built in Moore without underground
shelters! The pioneers living in Tornado alley knew to build their houses under at least 3-4 feet of dirt!
