RELATED STORY: Surrogate offered $10,000 to abort baby
I am sorry if this baby has to go through this .And I am sorry if you feel I am not being sensitive . but lets look at the issue form another perspective ; some questions to ask ? I wish the reporter would respond to some of these ?
-Is it really a favor to this baby to prolong her life (or death) and suffering because we as parent being selfish?
-will this baby survive after several surgeries and million $$$ of Tax payer dollars spent on her ? aren't there thousands of innocent kids that may have a better life spending this much money on them instead ?
-Is is right to force her go through this suffering while an early pregnancy termination would prevent it ? ( i am not in favor of abortion but think should be some exception)
-Do you think this mom wouldn't abort her if they have given her 15K instead of 10K?
-Is there any financial gain for this mother keeping this baby?
-Should we air these type of rare unfortunate news on CNN for own reporter fame and selfishness while there are much more important news out there which broadcasting them will affect lives of many people ?
-Would this mom make the same decision if she has to pay for all of the cost of medical care ,even is she was rich?
-Is she working ? or her sole income is from taking care of these kids ?
– Will really this pretty baby have a near-normal life and would ever enjoy her life considering all of her conditions?
– Don't you think you will make the same decision if you were in the same shoe as her ser. Parents ?
I don't know the answer for all of these questions and not trying to judge anyone but I'd like to bring in some question . I am a parent and know you love you kids , I love more if i can do anything preventing form suffering , even if that means an early pregnancy termination !!!
I have no problem with the surrogate mother keeping the baby. I also feel the biological parents should not in any way be forced to provide ANY type of support for the baby since the surrogate backed out of the agreement.
I would like to point out since the surrogate mother has no job, who is providing insurance? The taxpayer! For all you pro-lifers out there, this is the point you continue too miss. Children cost money. This child will need astronomical care of the rest of her life! Are You willing to pay for this?
I have been a surrogate mother 9 times. If there is an agancy involved it is their job to make sure that both parties agree on issues like this. Such as reduction and abortion etc..... As a surrogate I feel that this is not my baby and the parents should be able to make those decisions. I currently work for a surrogate agancy and we would never allow this to happen. I feel so bad for the parents the this poor baby that is now suffering because of the surrogates decisions. I bet she cannot afford to pay for the special care that this baby needs and the state and us tax payers will now be paying to take care of the baby because of her choices!! Many many surrogate story go well just like they should and its really sad the only the bad stories like this get heard.
I'm not religious, But God bless you. Please pardon my ignorance of the issue. Do you keep in touch with the parents? Do you have your own children? How does your spouse feel about this? Are you still willing to do this?
I'm pro choice so I do side with the surrogate but, if these things are talked about before hand as you mentioned it would change my opinion.
What is reduction? Is that killing one of the fetuses because the parents don't want more than one child?
