Donald Trump just doesn't quite get it...

    1) Obama doesn't believe in charity. Take a look at Obama's tax returns, he barely contributes to charities himself, why would he be enticed by a donation in his name like this.
    2) $5 million to help whatever charity Obama chooses is chump change. Take a look at the BILLIONS of dollars that Obama has funneled into "charities" like Solyndra. Why spend Trumps' measly $5 million when Obama can spend BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars instead.
    3) Obama's "charity" (aka welfare) programs paid nearly $750 BILLION last year. Obama would do far better to leave his records sealed and hope he is reelected so that he can continue his spending binges on his "charities".

Lol So you are saying that President Obama doesn't believe in charity but has given $750 billion in "charity"? First, CNN Money: "Temporary Assistance For Needy Families (TANF)" Is "What Welfare Turned Into In 1996." A CNNMoney article described how "the cash assistance portion of TANF has fallen to $9.6 billion in 2011, down from $20.4 billion" in 1996. The article stated that "advocates for low-income people contend that Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) which is what welfare turned into in 1996, does not adequately support the poor, particularly in tough times." [CNNMoney, 8/9/12] Second, you are just parroting a Fox News talking point. Where is your proof? If people were receiving outrageous amounts of "charity" we wouldn't have one of the highest wealth disparity in US history.

You know you will hear no more about this from CNN, let alone the President. Get a clue my brothers and sisters. 5M is a lot of charity. doesn't leave the President with a leg to stand on, so it will be swept under the rug. Mitt did give tax returns. How far back should they go? Until people see something to whine about? What Trump asked for was serious, just like Mr. President and his wife surrendering their ability to practice Law. Who would do that unless they were caught with the hand in the cookie jar?

I have an idea. The President should tell Mr. Trump that if the "ante" was doubled and he also releases a copy of his own High School & College records, it's a deal.

    Nancy,
First, Obama has nothing to hide. He has one of the most scrutinized birth certificates in history. Second, if Donald Trump was serious about giving money to charity (he's not), he could give it to the charity directly instead of playing these childish games.

EM, Your point is totally clear and valid. It's just another "look at me' ploy from DT.

The 'Money is God' Ambassador is at it again. TV Show exposure is clearly not enough to fill this gargantuan ego. No President no matter who he is should kowtow to the manipulation of any tycoon challenge irrespective of it's validity. To do so would erase any and all doubt (is there any left) that Washington and politics in the U.S. are totally financially controlled. He who has the most...gets the most!

Hey Donald, you should offer money to force Romney to release his taxes and Bain Capital Memos. You have tons of money to offer to release Obama's University Records, and Romney's taxes. I hope you will agree, its fair.

Excellent idea! Millions are still waiting to see the whole picture of Mr. Romney's tax records.

If the president has nothing to hide, why not accept the offer? He could HELP POOR people with the money!
