(CNN) – Paul Ryan's debate preparations have involved a core team of aides, improvised sessions on his plane, and mock debates in hotels all around the country.

But one thing Ryan did not do to prepare – seek advice from the only other Republican who has faced off against Joe Biden in a vice presidential debate: Sarah Palin.
