Don't mean to sound callous or non-supportive of the troops, but... If the troops weren't in Afghanistan... they wouldn't have been shot! Why are we still in Afghanistan? Bin Laden is dead, right? Most of the Al Qaeda leadership is either dead or locked-up in Guantanamo, right? They had an election and formed a new government, right? So why are we still there? Ohhhhhh... I get it! The $10 billion/month defense contracts haven't run their course. The contract was for 15 years, and we've only been there for 11 years... Someone stands to lose a lot of money if we pull-out to soon. No wonder John McCain defends the Afghan exercise so vehemently! The contractors are in danger of not being paid.
