(CNN) – Mitt Romney said Tuesday he wasn't denigrating the culture of Palestinians when he suggested at a fund-raiser that Israel's culture played a role in its economic success.

Romney's comments, made Monday, drew sharp criticism from Palestinian leaders, who blasted them as "racist statements." Unquote.

Maybe Iran was involved... or maybe not. Maybe James Holmes, the movie theater terrorist, from Colorado was involved? The truth is it could have been anyone of a number of different antagonists seizing upon an opportunity. Israel is not exactly a well-loved country. The real queston is: Why target Israel in the first place? What is it about Israel that invites this kind of attack? It may be convenient to blame Iran or some "radical" group, but one must consider the role that Isael plays in its own demise. Why is it that after 60 years of hand-holding, foreign-aid, military support, and othe baby-sitting measures, Israel cannot assume a responsible role with respect t its own neighbors? This did not start with Iran, nor even the Palestinians. No! This goes back thousands of years, Babylon, Rome, more recently Europe. Every step along the way there have been problems of co-existence with neighbors. The United States and allies could squander their combined national treasuries harkening to Israel's aid from now on, and it wouldn't make a dime's worth of difference. Israel would still find a way to be the "victim." Mitt Romney believes that by kissing some Israeli behind on prime-time T.V. that he can secure a few more votes. This is dangerous because it shows how little thought he has given to the big picture. If Ehud Barat and the Israelis want to see revenge for this most recent act, more power to them... but it is something they must do on their own, by themselves, and not drag the rest of the world into their petty squables. If they want to attack Iran... fine! Let them alone attack Iran. We will watch from a comfortable distance. No one in Iran has ever tried to undermine our democracy. The same cannot be said about the USA in reverse. Israel tries to exploit the naivete of the "silver-spoon" demographic of our country. They see them as some gullible fools who have loads of money but no common sense. Personally I don't care whether Iran develops a nuclear weapon or not. They would never be dumb enough to initiate a nuclear attack. The ayatullahs, contrary to prevailing propaganda, are not stupid men. If they desire to build a nuclear weapon it could only be in response to the way we have treated them, the way we have treated others who do not have nuclear weapons, and the way the fools in Washington rubber-stamp every scheme the Israelis devise. So to Ehud Barak, Bebe Netanyahu, and the rest of the Israeli cabal, I say good luck... because you are going to need it. Just remember... you will reap what you sew. Meanwhile, the USA and its European partners have a DEPRESSION to deal with. The big-business sector of our economy is showing signs of progress... a long way from the Spring of 2009. We should keep going and focus on development ot the small business and labor economies. We don't have time for another holocaust and such a thing can be prevented... not by launching stupid preemptive strikes that doom us to reprisals, but by exercising wisdom, fair-dealing, and consideration for our fellow man. Anything else is a prescription for unnecessary and endless wars, a totally trashed economy, massive poverty and all that goes with it. I realize this is not the popular republican view,but... SO WHAT!
