Wolf Blitzer delivers the most important breaking news and political, international, and national security stories of the day. Tune to The Situation Room weekdays 5-7pm ET on CNN.
Wolf Blitzer will sit down with Mitt Romney in Jerusalem on Sunday for a one-on-one interview with the presumptive GOP presidential nominee. The full interview airs Monday 4-7pm ET during “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer” on CNN.
Israel is the second stop on Romney’s three-country tour meant to bolster his foreign policy credentials ahead of November’s general election. The 6-day trip also includes stops in the U.K. and Poland.
In Israel, Romney will also meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli President Shimon Peres and Salam Fayyad, the prime minister of the Palestinian National Authority. This will mark Romney’s fourth visit to Israel. He last traveled there in January 2011, and has had a long relationship with Netanyahu.

Will a Romney Presidency support the creation of a Palestinian State in the Occupied Territories giving back
80+ percent of the land gained in 1967/73.
Can two countries coexist and share the Holy Land for the long haul with both having a capital in
Jerusalem if need be. Can there be peace in the Holy Land?
Hopefully, Mr. Blitzer will ask the tough questions. Mr. Romney has made some statements in Israel and it was clearh e was pandering for the so-called Jewish vote. He had some very wealthy Americans with him who would like to see him in office.
He is making promises that he cannot keep. It is not his decision to make about the capital of Israel. His views on Iran were meant to bolster his standing with Israel. He is not counting on the fact that Jews in the United States will make their own decisions based on many factors and his trip to Israel and the statements he has made may not resonate with them
Gov. Romney there are around 200 countries in the world; does Israel mean more to you than any other country? If so, why is that?
Ask Romney if the new standard he is setting for "nondisclosure" will be acceptable to Republicans from a 2016 DNC challenger? No matter who wins this election...there will be a new DNC challenger. Not one reporter has ask any republican this question to my knowledge. Nor do they point out on the air to Romney that comparing himself to John McCain is ridiculous. McCain has been in the Senate forever and has to disclose his finances every year.
I can see the GOP in 2016 if Hillary were to run. I'm sure they'd be okay with her 2014, 2015 tax returns while she's running for President and they certainly won't expect anything from Bill Clinton's records. Please...give us all a break.
This is why some in the GOP are saying publicly that Romney should release his records because they'll never accept it from a democrat.
it better than I ever could; I am in ageerment with everything in your comment!! To alienate a small but mighty ally such as Israel, after so many decades of working together, is not only foolhardy ..it's reprehensible! And to suggest to Israel that to regress to conditions as they were over forty years ago would be the right thing to do beyond stupidity and completely insulting! The Israelis have fought long and hard to prevent the encroachment of the Palestinians, have lost countless lives to Palestinian bus bombs and other deadly attacks, and now are expected (by the mindless, evil, idiot Muslim in our White House and his terrorist buddies!) to ignore all hardships and hard work and just hand over their land to those who have tormented them endlessly! Only a self-aggrandizing moron would even suggest such a thing!! We need to oust Obama from our government with all possible speed before he attains his goal of destroying our own country and to mend fences' while it still may be possible. WAKE UP, PEOPLE!!!!
With so much concern about nuclear proliferation in the Middle East, will you do anything to bring Israel's nuclear weapons arsenal under international inspection?
You say you hope military force will not be necessary against Iran, but you and your supporters have made clear you believe the threat of military force should be central to U.S. Iran policy. Do you agree with Netanyahu's "red line" that justifies military force to prevent a "nuclear capable" Iran (which has no clear definition) or do you accept President Obama's "red line" which aims to prevent a "nuclear armed" Iran?
My thoughts are in response to Janes comment of July 27 . Thatb I agree !!!!
You assembled a foriegn policy team of throwbacks to the Bush 43 administration –
You seem to talk tough as did Bush 43' leading up- to the Invasion of Iraq-what if – as in the case of Iraq- the neo-conservative view is wrong and Iran does not have nuclear weapon capacity.
Can we afford to risk an all out fullfledged Israeli-Iran war in the Mid-East drawing America back into another war?
Can your team work in tandem with President Obama's defense team and allies to protect the defende interests of Israel and the U. S.? while preventing yet another war, as a strike will inevitably trigger.
When you speak about the President's foriegn policy it is as though you believe the President's views are unilaterally concieved when he has many experts who are apparently as astute as those of your own. Moreover, the President's views are close to those of former Republican Secretary of State James Baker, III. Whereas the U. S. will always weight in on the side of Israel it will not allow the tail to wag the dog as some accuse you of Mr. Rommney- please comment.
Some questions for Romney:
1. The Associated Press and several Israeli newspapers have published a report quoting several former CIA officers as saying that the Agency considers Israel to be the Middle East's biggest spy threat to the US: "The CIA considers Israel its No. 1 counterintelligence threat in the agency's Near East Division, the group that oversees spying across the Middle East, according to current and former officials. Counterintelligence is the art of protecting national secrets from spies. This means the CIA believes that U.S. national secrets are safer from other Middle Eastern governments than from Israel. Israel employs highly sophisticated, professional spy services that rival American agencies in technical capability and recruiting human sources." Do you (Gov. Romney) believe Israel has the right to spy in and on the US?
2. The Pentagon and Lockheed Martin have now agreed that Israel can purchase the F-35 Joint Strike Fighters and modify them to its own specifications (which had been stalling the sale since 2010). The $2.75 billion will be paid for with US military assistance to Israel. The overall cost of the F-35 will be $1.5 trillion, the most expensive plane ever built. The Pentagon is hoping to recoup some of the development costs from the countries that are expected to buy them. As a fiscal conservative, how do you justify the huge cost of the F-35 in light of the federal deficit, and providing it to Israel at US taxpayer expense.
3. Gov Romney, you said in an interview with Ari Shavit of Haaretz the other day, ""Prime Minister Netanyahu always has to do what he feels is in the best interests of his own nation. I know that our nation will always feel the same about ours." If you feel that PM Netanyahu has this right, and you would have this right, why are you so critical of President Obama–even when he takes positions that you, and even PM Netanyahu, have indicated that you don't disagree with?
Wolf, I don't know about your interviews. I'd rather see Candy Crowley or Christianne Amanpour question Mitt Romney. For one thing, Benjamin Netanyahu is a politician, and therefore, always cast a keen eye to rope-in somebody he can use... a sucker who will simply write checks for anything Israel. If Mitt romney has such good relations over there, why doesn't he simply run for office in Israel? Outsource his personal experience to them? Perhaps they will be impressed by his tenure at Bain Capital and believe that he can create jobs in Israel! If Mitt Romney were to become President, Netanyahu would view him as a blank check. America would then end up having to finance a war against Iran and Syria. Imagine how many trillions of dollars we would have to borrow from the Chinese to that end!!! And guess what? America is not in a position to win such a war... for one thing, the Russians still remember America's intereference in their Afghanistan adventure, and they will see to it that we pay as a high a price as possible if we get militarily involved in that region. In short order... it would sound the death-nail to the America we have come to know and take for granted. We would never recover... And, as the Russian politicain intimated... America's land assets would be divided-up among the creditor, i.e., China, Russia, Saudi Arabia. So, Wolf... while you are gleefully congratulating yourself at the prospect of interviewing Mitt Romney in Israel... Please... try not to forget how much is at stake. Ask him some REAL questions.
repulicans chasing another war
ask him what his feelings are about pardoning pollard?
Do you think Mortgage Backed Securities are a good idea? How would you say they are helping the economy?
Be careful Wolf have your bullet proof vest and steel pot on, Romney might say something to spark off Iran or the Israel and you will be right there to cover the booming. Ask him for 1999 2000 2001over and over like you do with other I want you to be hardball with him, come on Wolf go for it..
CNN wonders why their ratings are so bad. This interview will become a campaign commercial. You won't even tepidly ask Romney about his tax returns, fake company in Bermuda, $100M in an IRA, or his bank account in Switzerland? Ten out ten of Romney's largest, biggest hauls were bust-out strategy deals! Never once has CNN investigated how Romney levered-up companies, bleed them, and then stuck the public with the bailout.
Rove says that all the money makes his party stronger. No. 300 million people get held captive to corrupt organizations like the GOP and the press is busy writing David Gergen lovefests for his buddies and CNN gets to collect their scraps.
The GOP spent three years talking about default, communists, and lady-parts. A handful of people decided they were better off with a decision, game theory of hurting 300 million people, and CNN was nowhere. You were busy with some shouting face person like Eric Ericson.
I could not agree with you more. I am bitter and angry and tired for that matter . Never ever has anyone seen the pandering and outright lies which has been going on since President Obama took office. Wolf Blitzer so loved Sarah Palin and if hewasn't interviewing her , on her terms, he mentioned her at least once a day. The poison and lies that chick spewed was beyond comprehension. Then there is David Gergen who has made a fortune in affiliation with Bain (yes Romney's Bain) .CNN is supposed to be unbiased , they are not! Wolf is about to interview Romney, who btw if elected will recognize Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel. My dear Mike , I protest!
I am hoping that your interview with Mitt Romney will not be the pandering, softball interview that Piers Morgan did. I am not interested in the Romney Campaign's propoganda driven narrative on Romney's success. I am interested in facts and in what Romney's policies represent for the American and world economies. Fair minded people don't begrudge Romney his wealth or success but they do oppose policies that favor the wealthy while institutionally disadvantaging the middle class and poorer Amerivcans. Romney has yet to convince many that he has a clue as to what is wrong with the American economy, let alone what the answers are. He spouts propaganda and platitudes and .attacks Obama. We need newsmen who push politicians on the factual basis for their ideology and policy Let's argue on the basis of fact..
Great reply, Brian. Let's hope for some good questions and answers. I believe that Romney's modus operandi to success has been for self gain (like millions of others) and not "government of the people, by the people, for the people".
Thank you for posting that . Truer words were never spoken!
Gov. Romney, after two months of wrapping up the nomination, is picking a vp that difficult for you or is being forthcoming about that decision to the American public that difficult?
First, I’d ask Romney of how he sees his credentials as a diplomat to engage in American foreign policy, given his recent challenge to the British questioning their preparedness for the London Olympic Games. From a diplomatic standpoint, his statement was an embarrassment to Americans and an annoyance to the British.
Next, I’d like for him to give an explanation as to why he conducted a fund-raiser on foreign soil to fund his presidential campaign on American soil.
Yes , I should like to know as well.
Does Mitt Romney believe that Warren Jeffs is the leader of the Mormon religion? Will he free Warren Jeffs if he becomes President? Will Mitt Romney allow polygamy and polygamist communities (ruled by their own own police) to continue to exist? Has Mitt Romney ever read the book "Under the Banner of Heaven" by John Krakower? What is his reaction? (Same question to Wolf Blitzer). Does Mitt Romney believe that once inside a religious building, compound, community, you no longer have civil rights. Meaning, once you cross over the threshhold of a church, synagogue, mormon temple, you give up all civil rights. The administration of religious buildings & communities write the rules and enforce them. Does Mitt Romney agree with this philosophy?
I believe this is a very important question that should be asked by Mr. Blitzer and not let Mitt skip past the question. Who did he pray to at the wall ? We know that mormans have there own bible that since 1830 supperseds the old and new testiment with there profets and historical events and places that can not be proved by any scientific or arcological endever. Why should the palistineans bleave this salesman?
No, Mitt Romney does not believe Jeffs is the president of the church. Jeffs is not even a member of the church, and polygamy is not a part of the mormon church. You need to get your facts straight so you dont sound stupid. Research websites that actually give you true facts. Mormon.org is a good one. Try reading the Book of Mormon too. If you believe the Bible, then you know that polygamy is mentioned in the Bible too. Explain that. And as far as civil rights and crossing over thresholds, what are you talking about? If you mean the mormon temples and why it is closed to the general public, take a discussion from the missionaries and find out why. Read the Bible teachings of the apostle Paul and you'll understand what services go on there. Curious minds wanting to know things that are sacred to others don't usually show respect and keep them sacred. Maybe that is why it is not open to the public. There is not much left in this world that is sacred. Good luck with your research.
If Israel were to act unilaterally against Iran without American involvement, would you put American troops on the ground in the Middle East to reinforce Israel's action?
Are you going to keep our country our of war's that do not pertain to us and put some very good people in your cabinet that have very good business and military experience?.Jim Thomas Phx.Az.
