Napolitano discusses new immigration policy with Wolf Blitzer

Washington (CNN) – In an election-year policy change, the Obama administration said Friday it will stop deporting young illegal immigrants who entered the United States as children if they meet certain requirements.

Under the new policy, people younger than 30 who came to the United States before the age of 16, pose no criminal or security threat, and were successful students or served in the military can get a two-year deferral from deportation, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said.

In an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, Napolitano explained the new policy in detail and emphasized that this is not a pathway to citizenship. "That's where Congress needs to act," Napolitano said, "We continue to urge the Congress to pass the DREAM Act, look at comprehensive immigration reform, the immigration system as a whole."

Blitzer's full interview with Napolitano airs Friday on "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer," from 4pm to 6pm ET.

OK Americans. Wake up. By definition illegal or undocumented immigrants CANNOT VOTE! Only American citizens can vote. Pandering; maybe. Political; maybe. But it does not guarantee Obama more votes. Am I the only one who listened in American civics class? The possible result of this Executive Order is that the legal family members of those illegal or undocumented immigrants may feel beholding to the Obama administration. – The Real Deal

It seems pretty clear to me that we now live in a lawless country, where depending upon your level of income, political clout, race, age, gender, sexuality, etc., the law treats you different...corruption rules. In my mind and in the mind of most citizens, the government's legitimacy is at or near zero. Illegal immigration is just a facet of this whole condition. For example, Corzine, should be in custody right now, answering questions, but he will not be prosecuted, because he is rich and is politically connected, and those he defrauded will never see justice. Bush and Cheney and their Neo-con buddies are war criminals...they won't be prosecuted. It goes on and on. The only individual who is expected to respect and follow the law is the common man, powerless and without a voice. This country, our government, and our President are just one bad joke.

Wolf, , Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano simply acted under congress approve of the Patriot act which aprove for president Bush by congress after 9/11/2001. president Obama order Napolitano to follow the guidelines that are law. Napolitano she has the power to issue illegal immigrantsa two-year deferral from deportation, This has always been power by immigration office and federal judges. Their was no law broken. But It sure is great see our congressmen wake up, did you also notice Romney (Mexican American) and Rubio (Cuban American), did not make a big thing about it because they were inform that it immigration law of the country.

DemocRATS will put the survival of their political party over the best interests of this country. The unemployed should demand that Obama stop this insane assault on the laws of our nation. He is not the King, he is an elected official who took an oath of office to uphold the constitution. This is treason.

This is wrong. We as Americans Have to make a stand. Illegal immigration is breaking the law. I can not break the law without serving the sentence for the law that I break. The law has to be withheld. I feel I am being discriminated against as an American citizen because I am required to uphold the Law. Compassion for breaking the law is wrong. These illegal immigrants say they have a DREAM. The DREAM should include keeping the law. My vote is being affected by this decision. My vote has changed.

    June 15, 2012 at 4:50 pm |

Noone is a more avid Democrat than I but on immigration policy I often agree with the Republicans. Illegal means NOT LEGAL and until the law is changed all should obey the law. Close friends, whole families from El Salvador, have come here LEGALLY, bought businesses and homes, have jobs, educated their children and applied for citizenship ten years ago BUT STILL WAIT for citizenship. We should hear about these immigrants, applaud their productive lives and that they did all of this LEGALLY. The discussion should be changing laws to help these immigrants not law breakers.

Any sort of easing of immigration policy is irresponsible at this point. It like a destitute person living in a house with 100 100 cats, who suddenly decides to open the door and let 100 more in. There is nothing wrong with the cats, but nobody is going to take care of them.

Another move by a desperate contender. Pure political pandering. Let's see what adding another 800,000 to the workforce does to the unemployment numbers.
