(CNN) – Rick Perry doubled down on his religion-based attack of President Barack Obama Wednesday, saying the president was preventing students from celebrating Christmas in schools. But just last year, Perry issued a holiday statement as governor of Texas that omits any mention of the Christian holiday.
In an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, Perry said Obama and the political left were waging a "war on religious traditions," including preventing students from praying in schools and having Christmas parties.

Real Americans say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.If people living here don't like it then get out of this country. The ones who don't like it are the first ones to ask for everything free. They must be communist, socialist or others who do not belong here,so leave as soon as possible. We are tired of you taking and not giving back.Jim Thomas Phx. I was NOT going to watch this idiot (can't stand him or that other fool TRUMP) first of all why does he call you "WOOF"? he needs to learn English and is SSSSOO full of himself...this guy is delusional and stupid...can you imagine this NUT being president? where would he lead the country? would he be accepted universally? this guy belongs in TEXAS, on his horse guarding the border.... I have a question for all the contenders: In the past 10 years, how have you contributed or been responsible for getting the country into THIS MESS (by what you did or did NOT do)???
Yesterday, I heard that Rick Perry received an endorsement from television preacher, Rev. John Hagee. This occurred on the same day Rick Perry was courting the Jewish vote in New York. CNN also showed a clip yesterday of Rev. Hagee saying that all who have not confessed their sins and become born-again believers in Jesus Christ are going straight to Hell for all eternity. This leaves me a bit confused; either Rick Perry agrees with Hagee that all Jews are (upon their deaths) going straight Hell for all eternity, or he is in serious disagreement with Rev. Hageeās theology. Which is it?
Rick Perry can still get a large percentage of the extreme religeous right vote. Most of that vote will be split between Perry and Bachman as long as they stay in the primaries. Don't believe any talk of the extreme religeous right voting for Newt Gingrich. That just isn't going to happen. Doug. pepperell MA.
