Wolf joins stars at education foundation launch

East Chicago, Indiana (CNN) - Wolf Blitzer joined forces with some of Hollywood’s hottest young stars and NBA legends this week to inspire kids to stay in school and dream big.

Nickelodeon “Supah Ninja” Carlos Knight and actor Kel Mitchell of “Goodburger” fame wowed the kids at East Chicago Central High School with a soundtrack provided by international DJ Skee. Former basketball players BJ Armstrong, Brandon Brantley, Rashard Griffith and Bridget Pettis rounded out the bench of successful celebrities offering up their advice to the kids.

The event was arranged by Wolf’s good friend, international businessman Reggie Martin, a 1990 alumnus of the high school and now a casino executive in Macau, China. Martin launched his “Education and Empowerment Foundation for Youth” at the event, in which Wolf took questions from the assembly of over 400 students.

Mr. Wolf, it is nice to see you back to doing something so nice to our young people. So many of our youth spend so much time sending e-mail, twitter and other things. And many of them can hardly write anymore since they have almost lost the ability to write fine English. Our country has to make a giant effort to get our kids back on the right track. Since our youth are the future, not the past, then we have to win them over or we will lose just about everything, do you not agree? Please keep it up, Sir, for them and all of us.

Wow, I seen this and got blew away, I was raised in Hammond, but stayed in East, Chicago. This has to be such a big deal, I'm in such a great feeling right now Mr. Blitzer, this is a good thing for the city, a very good thing sir. I am a current student, that finally got away from a life that really destroyed me for awhile. So I know the imporatance of inspiration, it is the core to productive people. We live in a time now that has changed so much so fast, expected I hope. We live in a time where our kids are entertained with mostly a way that will destroy before it creates, inspiration is once again a key to sucess, and yes I know a kid can be inspired to do a lot of things, just as we are inspired. I have now been inspired to progress at what I'm good at, speaking, you Mr. Blitzer inspire me.
