Powell favors same-sex marriage

(CNN) - Gen. Colin Powell said Wednesday on CNN's "The Situation Room" that he supports legal same-sex marriage, either at the state or federal level.

"I have no problem with it," he said in the interview, which will air at 5 p.m. ET. "In terms of the legal matter of creating a contract between two people that's called marriage, and allowing them to live together with the protection of law, it seems to me is the way we should be moving in this country. And so I support the president's decision."

BLITZER’S BLOG: Jon Huntsman stakes out positions on gay marriage, debt ceiling

Washington (CNN) - You have to give Jon Huntsman some credit. He’s willing to go where none of the other major Republican presidential candidates are willing to go.

He was the only one who actually endorsed the debt ceiling deal worked out between President Obama and the Republican and Democratic leadership. Even former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who has a long history of being a moderate Republican, came out against the deal just before it was passed.
