Debating gun control solutions

As we near the one-year anniversary of the Sandy Hook shooting, are we any closer to keeping the public and our children in particular safe from gun violence? Mark Kelly - the gun control advocate and husband of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords - and Asa Hutchinson - former Congressman and NRA National School Shield program director - discuss gun control, background checks, and much more.

I believe that there should be a certain level gun control, but I also believe that gun control laws are a waste of time. The people committing gun crimes are typically criminals who don’t follow the law any way so, making laws to stop them is pointless the only people affected by the laws are the honest citizens that have guns for collecting, sport shooting or just for self-defense. I encourage feedback.

Really Mark Kelly, if a murderer fails a background check (and the government fails to arrest/prosecute them) to illegally buy a gun that they intend to use to murder someone, they are going to stop there? That just makes them go out and steal a gun or buy a stolen gun from a street thug. Both of those infractions, if they are caught, are far less of a penalty and tragedy than the actual commission of a murder. Then that creates another issue, if the government knowingly fails to arrest/prosecute them and they do get a gun and commit murder, the government is then complicit in that murder by knowingly failing to act to deter the crime.

Why don't you people center your attention on the scumbags that are doing the killing and not worry so much about the good people and their weapons. You take the guns away from the good and only the scumbags and police will have guns, then tou have a hitler, russian, china country. Is this what you so called goody to-shoes want?It is what you will have and get, and you will be the first ones to cry and piss and moan.Jim Thomas Phx.Az.

This is about courage to admit the truth, my brethren Democrats. It's easy to see right through the Liberal Democrats' personal phobia of guns (this phobia really does exist). If they really, truly cared about saving innocent lives from random, early, and violent death perpetrated by people who misuse a deadly tool outside of established law – then one only has to look at what's in their very own drive way.

The real truth: Cars are misused outside of established traffic law (texting, speeding, drinking, reckless driving) directly causing early, violent, and random death of four times more men, women, and children than with guns – every day.
