This crime was planned by Dimaggio and it's impossible with certainty given the revealed facts and the absence of information about Dimaggio and the girl's relationship to be sure of anything. Is she going along with him of free will ? etc. If I were investigating this crime, I would be considering that considering the evil and the risk of the crime that Dimaggio did to apparently to have sex with the girl for as long as possible. I would consider that he dumped or hid the car and I'd be checking into his past and whether or not he was a sailor or a boater of some kind. Because at his age the odds of him being stupid enough to be driving that particular car are very remote. Say if she was abducted, he'd be able to get what he wants on the open sea, with less chance of getting caught. Statistically speaking less people, and less law enforcement on the water. Say she is running away with him, by her choice, they are probably both in disguise and possibly held up somewhere or on the road. The past life facts about Dimaggio, what he knows and what he has access to, will narrow his escape possibilities down. I'd definitely be informing the coast guard of the possiblity of escape by water and I'd be checking marina parking lots for his car.
