Wolf Blitzer delivers the most important news and political stories of the day. Tune to The Situation Room weekdays 5-7pm ET and Saturdays 6pm ET on CNN.
I am concerned about gun control, especially assault rifles. It seems the NRA is only going for background checks, help with mental illness, and guards at schools. I wonder if they will be paying for this, or will our government have to pick up the tab. It seems so wrong if the tax payers have to spend money, while the gun industry makes more and more money. I am so angry that the assault rifle ban will not pass. Banning assault rifles does not negate the second amendment. It is very disconcerting to realize that the NRA has so much more power than our government. I put the NRA in the same category as the mafia. The gun people keep talking about the slippery slope. When slaughtering twenty plus children can continue without consequences to the existing system, it seems to me that we are on a slippery slope to HELL!!
How about just recognizing the cost, in human lives and in dollars. Hillsborough County on a local newscast indicated that the cost of providing armed guards for their 150 elementary schools was $1.5 million. The cost of adding middle and high schools would be additional. Where does the NRA think that money is coming from. I think there should be a healthy tax on weapons, their magazines and in particular the ammunition that should go to the local agencies, schools, etc., having to provide this service.

Why has CNN stopped reporting the types of guns used in shootings since Newtown?
