Cornyn: Hagel is "profoundly wrong"

In an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) explains why he is opposed to former Sen. Chuck Hagel becoming Secretary of Defense.

Cornyn says Hagel is "profoundly wrong on some of the biggest national security threats confronting the United States today, namely a nuclear Iran."

"This is a wrong job for him," Explained Cornyn, "because he's certainly outside of the national security mainstream."

What do you think about President Obama's decision to nominate Hagel as Secretary of Defense?

Watch the full interview at 5pm ET Monday on CNN.

Mr Hagel is due his day in public session. To exercise his right of free speech. To explain what he believes whether we like what we hear or not. He is a Vietnam veteran which give him special insights into three wars two of which this country should be not have entered into. Iraq and at this point in time Afghanistan. It defies logic that we should have any soldiers in Afghanistan now; a land that will return to just what it was after we leave. Chaos!

Tells you something when the strongest support for Hagel's nomination comes from Iran. What a disappointment Obama is. Does he think Hagel is truly the best available person to be nominated?

Lindsay Graham said he's against Hagel because Hagel's against Israel. I'm from Louisiana. I don't know any Republicans here that love Israel. That's just a farce.

Hagel is a great choice. What he said about the jewish lobbists is true. That is the problem with the gov.we have too many lobbists paying off the elected officials. Offical should think what is best for the US citizens first and not their bank account.

Cornyn is wrong, has always been wrong, never once was right and I can prove it just by mentioning about his undying loyalism to the Bush / Cheney Presidency that has left our country in state that recovery from, has been suffering in years because of the obstructionism he "Cornyn" contributes to on almost daily regularity. What is this world coming to when the testimonial of a Racist Republican would attempt to smear a decorated Vietnam Veteran . The GOP grows more disgusting every day, thanks to people like John Cornyn. Be wise my friends, Hagel is the man for the job and any Malarkey put forth by the GOP should be questioned by the same News Medias in a way that they'll think twice before offering their miserable opinions. Cornyn has never measured up to a Man like Hagel, in his life. Cornyn isn't honest enough to shine Hagel's shoes.

Give him a chance but get rid of him if he cannot put the USA first in all aspects of his decicions and his life.Obummer has to make a right decision in his people once in a while.I know it is a rarity but maybe the USA will get lucky for a change.Jim Thomas Phx.Az.
