iReporter Leonid Kovaci gives an eye witness account of the damage from Sandy on Staten Island, New York.
John King just said, and Wolf just implied, that Obama's 50% to 47% lead in OH meast the race is "a statistical tie." No, it doesn't. Assuming a "plus or minus 3% margin of error," that means the race COULD be a tie OR Obama might actually be leading 53% to 44%. That's why they call it "plus or minus three" and not only "minus three." This type of reporting might be good for ratings, but it's just flat out incorrect.
Where is FEMA in Staten Island?!? What is President Obama doing about this??? People have no food, water, clothes, electricity, etc.!!! Campaigning only days after something this massive is shameful! I am beginning to think he wants the Presidency without the job.
FEMA is all over Staten Island. I just talked to my father in law who lives there tonight. I'm not sure where you are, but they've been very impressed with the support they've received from FEMA....Not as happy with NYC, but having been through hurricanes myself, that's not unsurprising.
So now it is Obamas fault that there is no food, water, electric ect. Not that we just have one of the largest catastrophy in US history. Fema is there to assist. Do you know what the word assist means? Next the complaint will be is he is adding to the def by helping the state. It is really getting to be a JOKE listening to some of the comments. Actually its funny !
Just imagine how long the gas lines would be if only people would have got gas several days before the storm (like we all no to do) and not wait till there are no gas stations open, but 1 station operating.
To ask if we could be more prepared. How? This is a 100 year event. In 1912 there were still horses as a major mode of transportation. People didn't consume electricity as we do now. Yes, we learned from Katrina, but Obama responded before this, unlike Bush–who took days to respond; the National Guard was in place before the storm. FEMA was pre-staging and centers were ready. No one expected the destruction of piers and boardwalks that had lasted for 100s of years through countless storms and hurricanes. I applaud everyone who survived and those have aided, against the odds, often at personal risk, those who need help.
For once, let's report of the good of people's actions in this catastrophe, and let's stop trying to find bad just for something to report.
I have always liked CNN reporting, however I believe you need to stop fueling a fire by over and over saying 3 days is unexeptable for help not being there. Are u looking at the picture I am. It takes 2days to clear snow in a minor storm, what makes u think they can do a better job with what they are up against. People are told to be prepared for several days of delay. There is not any blame for anyone, so stop pointing fingers when everyone is trying there hardest. Thank and praise people for their efforts. I pray for the effected and praise the volunteers.
At a time of personal devastation, tonight Mr.Blitzer, and through him, CNN has chosen the low road. MY recollection of pre-storm advisements included the warning that it could take days for help to come. And that has come to fruition, no matter the grand efforts made by many. Is it truly CNN's stand to either instigate or perpetuate negativity during crisis? Since it's inception, I have been a loyal fan of CNN, but will reconsider based on my inference of reckless, hurtful, opinionated commentary. It is certainly not reporting. Is omission of facts equal to dishonesty? Does CNN not feel any obligation of national support? Re-thinking it all.
I also think that most Americans have decided one way or the other whom they are voting for in the Presidential election. Hence I think both candidates should forgo any further campaign media advertising and divert those funds to the clean up from Hurricane Sandy. I think $6B should about cover it for this election.
Lets do the right think President Obama and Gov Romney!
What u are asking is the intelligent and moral thing to do, but again this will never happen because they only think of themselves and how they can benifit from any situation, not whats good for others in greater need. And picture this, WE WILL PUT ONE OF THEM IN THE OFFICE AND MAKE THEM PRESIDENT OF THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD !!!!!!!! Imagine this !!
When first hit, lots of talk abut Long Island and how hard it was being hit. Now there is not news about it at all? WHY
have friends out there ... no power, massive flooding and lots of wind damage there too
