The Republican presidential candidate took heat Wednesday for his Tuesday evening statement on the situation in Libya.
RELATED STORY: GOP senator questions timing of Romney statement
I don't understand why people are attacking Romney's foreign experience when Obama had NO Foreign Experience when he came in. He (Obama) still isn't doing anything to help our foreign policy. He is why this country is going down – we NEED Romney and Ryan to turn this around.
So the State Department comes out and says basically what Romney said. Did any reporter who attacked Romney revise their opinion? Then 7 or 8 reporters ask Romney the same question in the same briefing. Are the reporters not capable of independent thought?
I realized that the Presidents answered no questions at his briefing. If he ever does, here are some suggestions:
Why didn't he attend the intelligent meeting the day after the attack ...was Vegas really that important? How many intel meetings has he missed.? Is that more or less than the times has he met with his jobs council?
Why weren't the embassies better protected? There are reports of "chatter" and it was 9/11.
Why is it acceptable for our Embassies to be attacked because of "a movie" ? How are we going to help these countries understand we both protect religious freedom and freedom of speech?
Is there a relationship between the events and Egypt's president visiting Iran?
What conditions will the President place on the financial aid we"re giving to these countries?
Other questions just to think about:
Did the Egyptian who made the movie foresee the consequences of his posting it on YouTube?
Does the YouTube have a responsibility to block content of some videos to specific regions of the world?
It was ironic today that while the President and Sec. Clinton were taking part in a sombre and heart breaking ceremony when the bodies of the four slain Americans returned to the US, Mitt Romney was ranting at a campaign rally. Wouldn't it have been nice if Romney had delayed the rally for a couple of hours so that he and the people there could watch the service? After all it was a service honouring American heroes and was not a political event. Also, shouldn't all of the leaders and media in the countries where protests are taking place tell their citizens the truth. Shouldn't they tell them that the film was made by a bigoted radical and that it was not representative of the American government and people? They need to know that. Also, when is the film maker going to be completey investigated? It should be made public who he associated with, where he worked, was he an activist, who supported him in the making of the film and what political party he is associated with? Since he did have ties with the crazy Florida pastor who was a member of the radical right, then maybe he was too. The American people should be told the truth about all of these things.
So in your new america the First Amendment is gone removed because those you don't like and don't agree with get investigated for their speech. Well well we now see, none of you believe in the constitution investigate the film maker. Find out if he's christian, we have ways of dealing with people who believe in freedom of speech. So much for the principles that
all americans were suppose to believe in. Do you have any idea the number of anti christian, anti jewish or anti american videos are on the world wed web. Come on, this is about one thing smoke screen for a failing president. Any situation that makes the one you love look bad. So you must find some one else to blame, All in emotions you whine and cry.
I agree with you! Obama needs to go!
The way Romney reacted is why i wouldn't want him for president. Romney would bomb the whole world on every occasion. Romney has no selfcontrol and needs some anger management. Obama handles the situation with care and doesn't overreact. Obama stays relaxed but focused. A true president.
Romney would be just like Presidemt Regan peace through strength! A strong presdient that won the cold war with out firing a shot!
Interesting how many are defending Romney here. It is important to know what Romney did! He jumped the gun! He made statements that where totally untrue and not based on facts. Romney apparently cannot even comprehend a text that is in English (perhaps he works better in French, the languish of diplomats?) and that is important because if he does not even understand in broad daylight I do not even want to imagine what country he will bomb when woken at 3 am!
It is so important to get out and VOTE a strait blue ticket in November to end this GOP/TP madness!!!
President Obama/Democrat ticket Nov 2012!!
I am not quite sure which channel most of the commenters have been watching, that they are bemoaning slanted coverage. I believe that is the purview of the 'fair and balanced' Fox News, not CNN.
Romney can criticize the President all he wants and when ever he wants – no one has a problem with that.
What struck everyone as unseemly was that he jumped in the fray to score the political points, but did not have the decency to pay tribute to the dead ambassador and embassy personnel or express sympathy for the loss of their lives.
That gives us a pretty good idea about what sort of a man he is and what sort of a president he would be.
The sort of man he is really you can tell the sort of man he is. because he doesn't believe the the same things that you do. Can you tell the sort of man the president is when he accuses Romney of killing a steel workers wife? Can you tell the sort of man he is when he snubs the Israeli Prime minister. Can you tell the kind man he is when he says the Cambridge Police acted stupidly. Can you tell the kind of man he is when announces unilaterally disengagement from the middle east. Can you tell the kind of man he is when he forces churches to violate their faith for the New American Heath Care Order. Any person at any time can ask a question in the USA. I see that you and this network have a different constitution that you work from. CNN has asked none of the hard questions that normally in such a situation are asked. Also funny how coverage has gone dark Saturday morning.
Romney became hysterical!! He made accusations on the basis of what was said BEFORE the incident occurred. If he behaves this way about everything... what sort of President would he be? He is emotional like a woman. He lacks the self-discipline necessary to remain calm and collected under pressure. Can he be trusted in matters concerning North Korea? Iran? Pakistan? Syria? Yemen? Lybia? Israel? If he can't even keep his mouth shut, how would he fair under that kind of pressure? Last month, he spoke out of turn in Britain. No one really cares if once upon a time Mitt Romney promoted the Olympics. So what? The British were not impressed and the Olympics went on just fine without Romney's unsolicited advice. I wouldn'vote for him. He's got no character. He' empty, weak, and phony.
Ha ha ha , he spoke out of turn in Britain the former head of the US olympic committee says "he hopes that London is ready". And the media and this network go bonkers at a question. Hum, shouldn't they then go bonkers when the president returns a bust of Winston Churchill which had been in the oval office. The bust was a gift to America from the British people, where is the greater insult. He offended the media by asking a question are you ready, let me guess, 'thems fighting words' , how dare you. Let me see all the questions CNN has not asked. When Carney said they are not protesting America, then why are they shouting 'Death to America'. Why wasn't security already beafed up it was 9/11. What happen to the ambassadors body for the 8 or 12 hours it was missing? What of the cable warning potential protests? What did they know and when did they Know it? Are you all under a spell or something? I bet you'll wake if there is a republican president
"He's emotional like a woman"?
I only wish President Obama was as smart has either Hilary Clinton or Condi Rice.
Wolf. I love your show and am following you on Piers. Why are we still on this subject? There is a much larger news trend at hand. Enough with tit for tat. It's almost looking biased...
I am disappointed that so many in the media have blown up Romney's comment. Everyone felt free to comment critically on Bush's actions to the point of jumping all over him for not rushing out of the classroom where he was reading to children. I don't recall CNN hammering on all of those comments. I WILL READ NO MORE PODSTS FROM YOU. Please stop sending them to me.
Mitt Romney is not the one who is responsible for this problem in middle east, but you can never say one thing that this president has done wrong ever. What in the world is wrong with the reporting at CNN. State department works for the president and is responsible to and the president is responsible for the actions of the State Department. Can you really detach the actions of the state department from the admin? Have you ever heard the buck stops here, when, when ,when will CNN begin to do the job of journalists stop agreeing with his policies and let it effect your reporting?
Don't you think that there are more important things to cover than if Romneys comments were right or too early? Is this going to help anybody? This is old news. Haven't you had enough of this issue yesterday? Obama does not need advertising money. He can stay in the White House and go to the Intelligence meetings, for a change. You are doing all the work for him. I wonder how would you have covered this comments if it would have been candidate Obama criticizing the Bush Administration. Can't we have unbias information somewhere?
Romney's response to the events in Lybia clearly demonstrates that he is not up to the job of being the leader of this country. The examples Cafferty made with the the 1980 presidential candidate response to the Iranian hostage situation is also a testimony to the radical difference in republican leaders today versus yesterday. Although I didn't like Reagan or either Bush, someone like Romney as leader, severely lacking in Emotional Intelligence, will send this nation up in FLAMES! The Romney response is more evidence that winning the presidency is more important to him and his team than the nation being successful. His colleagues have emphatically stated that they want Obama to fail which means they want the nation to fail. Is this the kind of leader that true Americans want? If so, I need to start looking for a new home!
I am totally disappionted in the way you reportl your news. Our Persident spent most of his last campaign bashing our former persident and you had to go back to Carter to say it was the last time someone did that. Shame on how you report the news. I will not be watching you anymore. Get your facts straight.
Romney's criticism of the Administration concerning the statement issued by the Embassy in Cairo is legitimate. In an era when information can be sent instantly around the world, it is even more crucial that there is a protocol for review from the top. The stress between the State Department an the White House suggests problems that we can ill afford in these times. There is a reason that Hillary looks haggard.
The complacency that exists (Marines with no ammo) is both naive and dangerous to those who serve our interests abroad. The "Arab Spring" and the killing of Osama Bin Laden are not secure feathers in our cap. Few Americans can fully appreciate the ideology of a culture whose history time and again has been "the enemy of my enemy, is my friend."
Obama's lack of experience as a leader is no longer veiled by his charm.
I am thoroughly disgusted with slanted information...how about giving the news fairly?
All the Obama rhetoric and fawning over him only serves to further divide and anger.
He is only getting heat from the liberal media, who are no longer news reporting entiteies, but just willing pawns of the Obama campaign. Mr. Romney is running for President. He has every right to criticize the current administration's incompetent policies. Remember"freedom of speech". Leaders need to lead not blow around in the wind of liberal extreme campaign contributors.
I agree totally with you. This biased Liberal media of Cnn, is going to be downfall of this country!! They are worried about what Mitt Romney said, and defending their Obama, then reporting the real news!! A movie did not cause this, It was a terroirist attack. But yet CNN keeps saying it was, and it is fueling more protestors. Shame on CNN
