Only a small portion of U.S. Olympians achieve fame and fortune. For many, competing is a labor of love.
Let's be clear: many states fleiad to fully fund their state employee pension fund obligations, being permitted to run a substantial contribution deficit on the promise the contribution deficit would be remedied in future years. Now these same states want retirees to take a substantial reduction in pension benefits and to loot their state pension funds to balance their state budgets which are in deficit due to fiscal mismanagement. State legislatures stole the money on the front end and now are looking to steal the money on the back end. It is theft, pure and simple.
Wolf I believe that U.S. Olympians should get paid, it could be from TV revenues, factory sponsorship, so they can support themselves even if it scholars ships. I know the US Olympians committee they do want paid professionals, then why did they pay Romney run the Olympians. When they competed they are competing against paid professionals. If not Olympians committee should not be allowed to be paid TV revenues
