    Jim, in some cases I might agree with you, but what happened on the Sopchoppy was rain and flooding far above any previous record and most of the rain and water rise came in the middle of the night. If you check the weather stations closest to the river (Panacea MPRWF1 and Sanborn, Sopchoppy MSNDF1) you will see that almost 40 inches of rain fell Monday night into the early hours of Tuesday morning. Lots of folks went to bed without without warnings and woke to water rising fast in the middle of the night. We have a friend who built 6 ft above the 100 year flood elevation and got flooded. Locally in southern Wakulla county this was rain of Biblical proportions.
