What's on Obama's "to do" list?

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama will use the power of the executive branch to do as much as possible to reinvigorate the slumping economy without assistance from a divided Congress, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told CNN Tuesday.

"Whatever he can do as president, he will do," Carney said during an appearance on "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer."

Everything really comes down to lack of demand. If the middle class or what is left of it no longer has effective demand for homes, cars or money to invest, then we are going to do the Japanese version of losing decades of declining growth. Without demand, real demand, there can be no growth at all. And no bailouts of any kind will save this country. It is all smoke and mirrors, but soon the truth will be revealed. Real middle class people have not had a real pay raise in 30 years. No wonder they are sliding down the ladder of sucess. It is very easy to go up the ladder but it is horrible to slide down the ladder. And that is what is happening in this country. The President of Ford said today that they will continue to build more cars and trucks to sell. But to whom? The baby bommers are graying quickly and if they retire with a grand average of $100,000.00 to live on, watch out. Already many of them are trying to help their kids and their grandkids. Once that money is gone, and most have no pension, you will dream of these golden years as wonder years until now. Sorry, there it is and succinct. No growth to speak of, no money to be spent aside from the basics and young people drowning in debt from their college years. And no bailout will do it. I paid off my college debt and I am sick of the easy road that invites the U.S. government to bailout everything. If people would really pay off their debts, then there will be enough money to start up this economy again. Try it.

"Barack Obama is a dying fish,. Flip flopping on the surface while still floundering underwater! He has done nothing but waste the balance that keeps the ship afloat."
